AuRobo Academy is a Sydney-based STEM & robotics school for kids aged 4-16. We were built by working engineers who wanted their own kids — and yours — to have somewhere structured to grow past toy-kit robotics.
To turn curious kids into confident engineers.
Most robotics programs for kids fall into two camps: toy-kit clubs that recycle the same three builds for six months, and high-school engineering electives locked behind Year 9 timetables. In between lives an enormous cohort of curious 6-to-16-year-olds with nowhere structured to go.
That's the AuRobo audience. We designed a four-tier program ladder so a child can start at age 4 with silly-walk robots and finish at 16 with inverse kinematics and gait control — without ever hitting a ceiling.
How AuRobo started
Eight years ago, four working engineers noticed something at a local robotics club in Macarthur. The brightest kids would blitz the beginner kits in two weeks, then plateau — not because they lost interest, but because the curriculum ran out of runway. There was no ladder to climb.
So we built one. We started with weekend sessions at a community hall, then grew into weekly term classes, then a purpose-built centre in Raby. Every stage of the curriculum was designed by an engineer who had actually built the thing they were teaching — not adapted from a US or UK franchise, not derived from a textbook.
Today AuRobo Academy is the STEM home for over 1,000 kids across Macarthur, Camden, Narellan, and the Wollondilly Shire. And we're still working engineers — when a student asks a hard question, they get a real answer.
How we teach STEM
Real engineers, every class
Every instructor holds a working STEM degree. When a nine-year-old asks 'but why does the motor spin faster if we swap those gears?' they get a real answer.
Concept-first curriculum
We teach STEM concepts, not fixed builds. Each week unlocks a new mechanical or coding idea — gears, sensors, feedback loops, kinematics. Kids leave able to reason about how machines work.
Small classes, real progress
6–12 students per age tier. Every child moves at their own pace through four progressive programs. Nobody gets stuck on 'build the car again'.
Free first class, always
First class is on us. You watch a full session. Your kid takes home a mini build. If it's not a fit, you owe us nothing.
Serving Macarthur & South-West Sydney
All weekly classes run at our purpose-built centre in Raby. During NSW school holidays we also run pop-up workshops in shopping centres across the region.
